Honda Accord in Central Region
Our guest was a Honda Accord of the last for today, the eighth generation, which has undergone a slight restyling and is also equipped with a Type S sports package. Accord is a typical representative of the D-class, which sells well from year to year and makes up the lion's share of the brand's sales (ahead CR-V crossover only). This means that the model is still loved by customers. Therefore, in the course of restyling, very little changes were made, as they say "the best is the enemy of the good."
This time we got a kind of antipode - a white Accord in the Type S version with a black interior. Immediately, we note that this version does not differ in a special "hot" character, but differs, mainly in stylistic design.
Compared to the previous generation, the Accord has grown in size (61mm in length and 80mm in width) and has become more massive. But at the same time he is dynamic and aggressive. Traditional wedge-shaped radiator grille, narrow, like squinting headlights, embossed body, a harmonious combination of broken and rounded body lines. The diff Honda Accord in Central Region erences between the Accord 2012 model year are minimal - only the front light optics have changed. And our version of the Type S is distinguished by an aerodynamic body kit "in a circle", which looks very harmonious: the front bumper is more aggressive due to the widening of the lower part, more developed steel and lining on the sills. By the way, this affects not only visual perception, but also aerodynamics.
The interior of the Honda Accord is mesmerizing at first sight. Stylish, with a multi-level texture and many necessary options. But a lot of similar control buttons for auxiliary functions is a kind of "trick" of Honda. A large number of them are here not only on the "torpedo", but even on the steering wheel. Well, it's not for nothing that Honda cars are famous for technological machines!
The interior color scheme in the test Accord Type S is dominated by dark tones. Black is not only the plastic and seat upholstery, but even the ceiling. They are diluted only by inserts on the dashboard under titanium and red stitching on the seats. By the way, the “titanium” silver bets look very harmonious, but, unfortunately, they are quite scratched. Another hint of sportiness is the metal pedal pads. By the way, in winter, one not very convenient feature of them became clear. For better grip, the pedals are equipped with rubber inserts, but you see fellow journalists pressed the floor accelerator so actively that these same rubber bands either worn out or fell out. As a result, the snow-covered soles began to glide great on the pedal! There is no time for the exact dosage of acceleration - at least not to cheat!
The front seats are very comfortable and comfortable - the side bolsters hold the body tightly, and the seats of commanders from science fiction films about Star Wars come to mind. It's comfortable in the back row, but it's better for two people to drive there, the third passenger will be limited by a high central tunnel.
The main changes in the restyled version cannot be seen with the naked eye. We are talking about improved interior sound insulation. It is here, as they say, replaced in a complex way - from the engine to the isolation of external noise. New active safety systems have also appeared. This is collision avoidance and mitigation technology (CMBS) and is only available on the Advanced trim level. But automatic high beam control, bi-xenon headlights and Active Cornering Lights were also on our test car.
The real character of the car is revealed as soon as you start driving. After all, under the hood there is a naturally aspirated 2.4 gasoline engine with a capacity of 201 hp. Let's not hide the fact that Honda Accord provokes fast and aggressive driving even in winter. Low seating position, floor gas pedal, short-throw six-speed gearbox, informative steering, and most importantly - an excellent high-torque engine. The car picks up the first hundred in 7.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is 227 km / h. The Accord is controlled very accurately, the steering wheel is precise and has good feedback with the road. After all, the steering on the Type S version is "sharper" than on the regular Accord. Shock absorbers also differ, which have two modes of operation: with active maneuvering, they become stiffer, excluding strong rolls, and with measured driving, on the contrary, they are softer. Unevenness at low speed Accord tries to pass gently, without annoying
